If a class is canceled for lack of enrollment or for any other reason, GSIs must be notified that the position is no longer available prior to the second meeting of the assigned section or class. If a class is canceled by Summer Sessions for lack of enrollment, such cancellation is completed and communicated to departments as early as 4 weeks prior to the beginning of the class. If a cancellation occurs, the department must notify GSIs via email or in person, followed by a written confirmation. If notification is not made by the second meeting, University will be obligated to appoint the GSI to an equivalent position, or pay equivalent compensation in lieu of an appointment. Summer Sessions will work with departments to make reassignments if necessary.
