Faculty and lecturers are paid 11% of their academic year salary (as of June 30) for each eligible 3 to 5-unit course they teach. For courses of other number of units, the percentage is adjusted up or down according to the table below.
If a visiting instructor works for UC Berkeley at any time during the current academic year, Summer Sessions will approve employment up to, but not exceeding, the annual rate used during that academic year.
The maximum faculty or lecturer may earn is 22% during one session and 33% total for the entire summer.
